The Importance of a 2 Post Lift
A 2 post lift is an essential tool for lifting a car off the ground for servicing and repairs. Having been in use for over 40 years, these lifts have a proven track record of reliability and efficiency. Early manufacturers in England, such as Bradbury, Kismet, and Tecalemit, paved the way for modern designs.
What Is a 2 Post Lift?
The basic design of a 2 post lift features two posts bolted to the floor, often connected by a base plate. Early models primarily used screws within each post, which were prone to wear. Nowadays, lifts commonly use hydraulic rams and steel cables for enhanced durability and performance. At Equipment4Garages, we supply Peak lifts, which utilize this modern technology.
Evolution of 2 Post Lifts
Most 2 post lifts have base plates that house steel cables running across the floor between the posts. However, recent designs see posts fixed directly into the ground, eliminating the need for base plates. The Peak models 209 and 209X are particularly popular in our range. These models feature a unique single-sided lock release system, allowing users to release the locks without walking to both sides of the vehicle. Additionally, their super-symmetric arms enable optimal positioning of the car for various types of repairs.
Lift More with 4-Ton Lifts
With the increasing weight of modern vehicles, there has been a shift from 2.5-ton and 3-ton lifts to 4-ton lifts. The Peak 209 and 209X models are 4-ton lifts, ensuring safe lifting of heavier vehicles. Garages are also adopting baseless lifts, where steel cables run over the top of the vehicle instead of across the floor. This design removes floor obstructions, beneficial for cars with low ground clearance and when using a transmission jack. The Peak 209C is a well-regarded baseless lift in our range.
Modernize with Two Post Lifts from Equipment4Garages
In the past, vans and pickup trucks were primarily serviced on 4 post lifts. Today, workshops prefer 2 post lifts like the Peak 210, which has a 4.5-ton capacity to handle loaded vans. Equipment4Garages is planning to introduce a 5-ton 2 post lift to accommodate extra-large and longer vans, addressing the need for jacking points that can be over 3 meters apart.
