It is important that daily checks are carried out on your 2 or 4 post lift and scissor lifts before use every day to ensure the safety of the users, vehicle and property. The lift should be inspected for damage to wire ropes or chains and lack of adjustment, hydraulic equipment and hoses for leaks, lift pads for wear and tear and arm locking systems for correct operation. The floor bolts should be inspected for tightness. The lift should only be used if all checks are satisfactory. If any of these aspects seem worn or not fit for purpose, the lift should not be used until the problem has been fixed or replaced.

Ensure Your 2 And 4 Post Lift Is Safe To Use

There are also monthly inspections that should be carried out on a 2 or 4 post lift which are a little more thorough. The user or operator should check that all rollers, ropes, chains and carriage pins are lubricated, floor bolts checked for tightness and nut and screw lubrication systems are topped up with the correct lubricant, and that all weights applied to the lift conform to the lift weight specifications. At Equipment4garages.com we stock the correct hydraulic oil grade 46 should your lift need topping up. On a six monthly basis, a full service of the lift should be carried out by a competent person as advised by the Health and Safety executive (HSE) BS7980 and the GEA.
